She lived on Zagorodny Prospekt, at house 26, in a communal apartment with her adoptive mother Elena Nikolaevna Bernatskaya and Aka (Rozalia Karlovna Krums-Strauss), an Englishwoman by birth. In June 1941, she graduated from eighth grade. Lena Mukhina’s diary entered the Central State Archive of Historical and Political Documents of St. Petersburg in 1962. Thanks to the names mentioned in the diary, the publishers were able to recreate the biography of Lena Mukhina and find her relatives living in Moscow.
