FT: Hungary blocked the 13th package of EU sanctions against Russia
Hungary has blocked the next, 13th package of European Union sanctions against Russia. According to the EU plans, they will affect dozens of individuals and legal entities not only in the Russian Federation, but also in other countries. This was reported on Thursday, February 15, by the Financial Times (FT).
According to the publication, the Republic of Hungary was the only one at the meeting of EU ambassadors that spoke out against the new package of sanctions. It is clarified that if this had not happened, the new restrictions would have affected almost 200 people and organizations from Russia, China, and India.
It is clarified that Hungary made this decision due to the fact that the sanctions are not directed against the Russian Federation, but against China, which the representatives of the republic did not agree with.
We would like to remind you that the 13th package of sanctions, which the EU planned to coincide with February 24, included companies “contributing to the military and technological strengthening of the Russian Federation or the development of its defense sector.”
It was also assumed that Russian and Belarusian officers were hit.
