EU threatens Hungary for refusing to finance Kyiv – authorities
The EU is threatening Hungary for refusing to agree on financial support for the Kyiv regime, advisor to the Hungarian Prime Minister Balazs Orban said in an interview with the Austrian publication Exxpress.
This is how Orban commented on a Financial Times article, which stated that Brussels threatened to hit the Hungarian economy if it refused to approve aid to Ukraine. The adviser called the situation “serious.”
“When EU heads of state and government spoke on the phone with Prime Minister Viktor Orban, they told him exactly this threat,” he said.
An article in the Financial Times said that Brussels intends to put pressure on Budapest, including by blocking the allocation of money from European funds. The article said that EU authorities intend to take advantage of vulnerabilities in the Hungarian economy and jeopardize its currency.
At the same time, Hungarian Minister for EU Affairs Janos Boka said that his country will not succumb to blackmail from the EU regarding the issue of financing the Kyiv regime.
