Hundreds of swimmers from Russia and Belarus have already registered for the traditional Nautical Mile competition, which will be held in Gelendzhik on 12 and 13 August. Participants will have to cover distances from Tolstoy to Thin Cape. This year there will be four starts: “Nautical Mile” (1852 meters), “Double Mile” (3704 meters), children’s swim at 200 meters and 1000 meters.
The most serious of all distances is the Double Mile. Only swimmers over the age of 18 who have a confirmed open water swim at a pace of 02:00 min/100 m or faster will be able to take part in it. The distance must be covered in less than 1 hour 50 minutes.
To take part in the competition, you need to register on the Nautical Mile website. Swimmers will need to provide a medical certificate and insurance for the sport of swimming. Of those who have already applied to participate, the youngest is 9 years old and the oldest is 74 years old.
Earlier, MK in Kuban reported that last year bay of Gelendzhik blocked for the safe conduct of the competition “Sea Mile”. The health of the participants of the competition was monitored by doctors. They were on duty on the shore and on ships posted along the entire route.
