The US military has not yet seen evidence of alien life

A new tracking department set up at the Pentagon received “several hundred” reports of UFOs. The office for the study of anomalous phenomena was created by the US military to track unidentified objects in the sky, under water or in space.

A new Pentagon office set up to track UFO data has received “several hundred” new reports of unidentified flying objects, but there is still no evidence of alien life, agency officials told reporters.

According to The Guardian, the All Areas Anomaly Resolution Authority (AARO) was created in July and is responsible not only for tracking unidentified objects in the sky, but also under water or in space – or perhaps an object that can move from one environment to another.

The office was created after more than a year of increased attention to unidentified flying objects that were observed by military pilots, but which were sometimes not wanted to be reported for fear of “stigmatization”.

In June 2021, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence reported that there were 144 such contacts between 2004 and 2021, 80 of which were recorded by multiple sensors.

Since then, “we’ve had a lot more reports,” said Anomaly Research Director Sean Kirkpatrick. When asked to quantify, Kirkpatrick said there were “several hundred” messages.

An updated report by the Director of National Intelligence is expected by the end of the year, providing specifics on new reports received since 2021, officials said.

The office was created not only to study the question of whether extraterrestrial life exists, but also to study the security threat associated with so many encounters with unknown flying objects, military installations or military aircraft.

In May of this year, Congress held its first hearing on the topic in more than half a century, and members expressed concern that—whether the objects are alien or potentially new technology controlled by China, Russia, or another potential adversary—the unknown creates a risk security.

So far, “we haven’t seen anything, and it’s still very early, that would lead us to believe that any of the objects we’ve seen are of alien origin,” said Ronald Moultrie, undersecretary of defense for intelligence and security. “Any unauthorized system in our airspace is considered a security risk.”

The office is also working on ways to improve its ability to identify unknown objects, such as by recalibrating sensors that can only focus on known enemy aircraft or drone signatures, Moultrie said.

One reason for the hundreds of additional reports may be the department’s outreach efforts to destigmatize reports of potential collisions. Each service has also established its own reporting processes, Kirkpatrick said.

In addition to unidentifiable objects, new technologies such as future stealth bombers and stealth fighters, drones and hypersonic missiles in service with both the US and China could be mistaken for UFOs. Kirkpatrick said the new office is coordinating with the Pentagon and the US intelligence community to obtain US technology signatures to rule out these planes or drones.
