Hublot never ceases to invent a worthy setting for tourbillon

Hublot’s flagship technology launch at the January LVMH Watch Week was the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Yellow Neon SAXEM in a transparent lemon yellow SAXEM case. In essence, SAXEM (Sapphire Aluminum oXide Earth Mineral) is a type of artificial sapphire, since it is also based on aluminum oxide. Fluorescent “acid” coloring was obtained by introducing into the composition of rare earth lanthanides – thulium and holmium, as well as chromium. As a result of three years of development work, Hublot engineers and technologists have achieved a uniform and rich color – regardless of the angle of view – without compromising the transparency and strength characteristics inherent in artificial sapphire. The Emerald Green SAXEM was previously used in 2019 in the Hublot Big Bang MP-11 Power Reserve 14 Days Green SAXEM limited edition.
This time around, the 44 mm diameter and 14.4 mm thick case made of an innovative material has received an even more impressive content: an automatic in-house movement with a tourbillon and a 72-hour power reserve provided by a micro-rotor. The layout of the movement provides a symmetrical architecture and aesthetic appeal: the one-minute tourbillon cage at 6 o’clock is visually balanced by a micro-rotor visible through the skeletonized dial at 12 o’clock. The silver-plated movement details, as well as the heads of the six titanium H-shaped screws on the bezel and the titanium crown, contrast with the transparent case and rubber strap of the same neon yellow color.
The watch, valued by the brand at 200,000 Swiss francs, will be produced in 50 copies.
