“Kommersant Style” talks about what the training will be like this year and whether it is realistic to motivate yourself in the process of playing sports so that it is not interrupted.

The search for novelty – this is what you can call what is happening today in fitness. The main types of training have already been mastered and mastered by everyone interested: the cross-country skiing season has ended, Nordic-walking with poles has begun, functional strength training continues on sites in parks, roller skiing will soon begin, and in the gyms everything remains almost as it was during Jane’s home training Foundations – aerobic exercise is interspersed with crunches, planks, exercises with dumbbells or a barbell. This cycle is quite predictable, and from a certain point so much so that you can easily feel an uncontrollable desire to stop training altogether – especially if no special achievements have happened.

However, the industry is not asleep, and after the pandemic lull and home online training, the search begins for that same holy grail or ways to diversify the training so that people do not lose interest in it. Therefore, amateur sports in 2024 are primarily offline training, and it is being transformed into exploring new ways of connecting with your body that arouse curiosity in people and give impetus to exercise.

The beginning of the year is marked by innovations: wall Pilates appeared, workouts like Animal Flow, Pvolve, Tarzan Movement and other training options that were unusual at first glance (which you won’t find in the fitness reports of research platforms). What is this? Tarzan Movement is a course inspired by the movement patterns of monkeys, Pvolve is a cross between Pilates and functional, aimed at toning muscles. Animal Flow consists of a series of isolated movements that, when combined in sequence, create a kind of dance that works the entire body. It looks quite wild, but graceful – while improving strength, flexibility and balance. Yolatis, a fusion of yoga and Pilates, is an innovative discipline aimed at promoting better stretching of the body, greater muscle strength and tone, and a greater balance between mind and body.

The latest healthy lifestyle trend that’s gaining momentum is walking backwards. Oddly enough, doctors are ready to approve this, since with such a reverse movement the muscles of the thighs and buttocks become more pumped and strengthened, the pressure on the inside of the knee decreases, which reduces chronic pain and congestion. Most experts recommend starting to walk this way not on the street (dangerous), but on a treadmill – this not only eliminates the need to look back, but also helps you adapt due to the presence of handrails.

Pavel Shabashov, a personal trainer for functional training and yoga at the Pro Trener network, believes that maintaining motivation is the key to an active training process. “Our bodies adapt to the same exercise over time, so to stay motivated and not give up on your workouts, you need to mix up different fitness routines,” he says. Pavel advises using a multi-directional approach (exercises for flexibility, balance, endurance and strength) and gives several key points that will help refresh the training process: you need to experiment with different fitness equipment, change the intensity, pace and location of training, find your trainer and partner – a like-minded workout partner.

In pursuit of variety, you can be Tarzan from time to time or climb the wall for Pilates – it is important not to lose motivation. However, it is still normal to have days when it may seem unclear. And if this happens, remind yourself of the reasons you started exercising in the first place and focus on the positive changes that have already happened in your life.
