“Computer monsters” played their part in the case of the stabbed fifth-grader from Khimki near Moscow, says Kirill Kabanov, a member of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation.
In his Telegram channel, he wrote that one of the signals that should have indicated the impending tragedy to the parents of a girl who attacked a classmate was that she took the name of a computer game character a year ago.
Kabanov believes that as soon as the child decided to officially change the name given to him at birth to the name of a monster from a computer game, everyone should have thought about it. But this signal went unheeded. The result was a terrible tragedy.
Kabanov attached a picture to this message, which depicts the character of the game World of Warcraft – Melvira.
The human rights activist also said that the attack on a classmate is “an illustration of the development of Internet aggression spread through the online gaming space.”
On Tuesday, it became known that in the lyceum No. 10 of the city of Khimki, during a break, one of the students attacked a peer with a kitchen knife in the toilet. The girl received dozens of blows to the head, arms and chest. After that, the student who attacked her classmate returned to the school auditorium, covered in blood, and said: “I killed her.” It was also reported that she brought the knife from home.
