HRC appeals to OSCE, UN and ICRC over execution of residents near Kupyansk

An appeal to international organizations was sent by the head of the Human Rights Council under the President of Russia (HRC) Valery Fadeev in connection with the appearance on the Internet of a video of the execution of civilians near Kupyansk. Fadeev wrote to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Council of Europe, the OSCE, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the European Council, the European Parliament and Amnesty International. This was reported on Monday on the website of the HRC.

In his letter, the head of the Human Rights Council noted that “the video testifies to extrajudicial killings, the physical destruction of people,” who show a civil position and dare to oppose the actions of Kyiv.

According to Fadeev, the situation is aggravated by the fact that the Ukrainian authorities have previously openly announced the conduct of “tough cleansing” and “filtration measures.”

The head of the Human Rights Council called on the international community to “take the information presented seriously and achieve an international investigation” of the crimes that are recorded on the video footage.

Earlier, a number of media outlets and some telegram channels reported that one of the ex-commanders of the neo-Nazi national battalion “Azov” (Recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia – “MK”) Maxim Zhorin published on October 9 footage showing the bodies of dead people being thrown into a pit In his post, according to Zhorin, it was about Kupyansk (Kharkiv region).

The video caused a flurry of indignation, including from the residents of Ukraine. Later, Zhorin, as reported, supplemented his publication, adding at the end that he allegedly took the published footage from the “occupier’s phone.”

On Monday, the head of the ICR, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered to open a criminal case based on the “video from Kupyansk”. The ICR stressed that despite the statements of Zhorin, who accused the Russian military of killing people, the situation in which the footage was filmed suggests that they were taken after Kupyansk was under the control of Ukrainian militants. Moreover, the parameters of the video indicate that it was filmed on the afternoon of October 9th. The TFR stressed that this indicates the commission of new war crimes by the Kyiv regime.
