Newspaper Hill reported that children’s hospitals in the United States were overwhelmed due to an outbreak of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
According to the publication, the children’s hospital, located in Connecticut over the past few weeks, has been operating at the limit of its capabilities. This is due to the influx of patients with RSV. Currently, specialists are negotiating with the authorities and emergency services about the installation of a street tent to receive additional patients.
“In intensive care for children there are not as many beds as in adult departments. Usually they are simply not needed. The number of cases began to rise at the beginning of last month and began to increase exponentially,” said Dr. Juan Salazar.
A similar situation has developed in several hospitals in the District of Columbia, California, Illinois, North Carolina, Massachusetts and New Haven Children’s Hospital.
