Sergeant Yuri Shcherbakov, who received the title of Hero of Russia, said that the crew of an anti-tank missile system under his command thwarted the offensive of Ukrainian troops on the positions of neighboring Russian units.

A video with his story was published by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The department reported that the commander of the ATGM squad, Shcherbakov, was awarded the Gold Star medal for the destruction of 9 tanks, 4 armored personnel carriers, 12 infantry fighting vehicles, 4 trucks with ammunition, 2 platoon strongholds and more than 100 Ukrainian militants during the military offensive.

In addition, the department published footage of objective monitoring of the destruction of 10 enemy armored vehicles.

“I heard on the radio that there was an attack on the neighbor on the right,” said Yuri Shcherbakov.

According to him, he “saw it himself, discovered it himself, opened fire” and brought it “to the end – that’s it, the offensive was completely disrupted, stopped.”

The sergeant explained that they “just arrived in this direction” and he did not yet know “where the enemy is coming from, and was just studying all the heights, directions from where he could come and where he would appear.”

The sergeant plans to continue to perform the tasks of the SVO and wants to obtain an officer rank and become an officer. He also noted: “It’s not just my work, it’s the work of the whole team.”
