Head of the Human Rights Council: the bill on confiscation of property for fakes will not affect relocants

The bill on confiscation of property for spreading fake news will not affect people who live abroad, but remain citizens of their country and express a desire to return to their homeland. This was stated by the Chairman of the Russian Presidential Council for Human Rights (HRC) Valery Fadeev.
Earlier, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said that on January 24, legislators would consider a proposal to confiscate property for calls for activities directed against the security of the state and for discrediting the army.
Fadeev noted that a small number of people living abroad have been accused of committing crimes, and emphasized that the vast majority of them have not committed any offenses. According to him, if these citizens express a desire to return, nothing will prevent them from doing so.
The head of the HRC also explained that property used to commit a crime will be subject to confiscation. He emphasized that the Russian judicial system provides the opportunity to appeal a decision three times, and that there will be no exceptions in this process.
