Head of Lukoil division arrested in corruption case

The Basmanny Court of Moscow refused to send three high-ranking employees of the energy customs post of the Federal Customs Service of Russia to a pre-trial detention center in a corruption case.
As the press service of the court reported on Thursday, April 4, the investigation’s request to take the defendants into custody was denied. The court considered it appropriate to choose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest until June 2.
A different decision was made in relation to another person involved in the case – the head of one of the structural divisions of PJSC Lukoil, Alexei Stepanov. He will spend the next two months in a pre-trial detention center.
The defendants in the case are charged with receiving a bribe on an especially large scale, as well as illegally obtaining and disclosing information constituting commercial, tax or banking secrets.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation reported to Head of State Vladimir Putin that the work to combat corruption great attention was paid. In 2022 alone, more than 7,500 properties of corrupt officials worth more than 90 billion rubles were converted into state income.
