The Sibir hockey club terminated the contract with player Fedor Gordeev, because of which the KHL awarded the team a technical defeat. At the same time, the club retained the rights to the hockey player and plans to conclude a new contract with him next season.

Let us remind you that on January 17, the KHL awarded Siberia four technical defeats for the games that took place at the beginning of the season. The league came to the conclusion that in these matches the team exceeded the limit on foreign players, since Fedor Gordeev, who has a Russian passport, has foreign sports citizenship this season. The club tried to challenge this decision, but to no avail. Immediately after losing the appeal, news followed about the termination of the contract with the hockey player. The 25-year-old defenseman has seven points in 42 games this season.

According to Sibir general director Kirill Fastovsky, the club will sign a new contract with Gordeev next season, when the player will no longer have the status of a foreign player.

“He terminates the contract on his own initiative, the rights remain with the club, and we will conclude a new contract with him, which will be valid from the next season, when he will already have the status of a Russian. We are negotiating a two-year agreement,” the head said in an interview with TASS.

Earlier, MK in Novosibirsk reported that Sibir coach Zavyalov had his nose broken by a puck during a match.
