The updated composition of HC Rostov broke the bad streak. After 20 lost matches, the “red-whites” won.
The meeting with Chelmet took place on December 2. The scoring was opened only in the second period. In the 37th minute, Rostov forward Dmitry Utkin scored the puck into the opponents’ goal. However, the home team did not lag behind: 18-year-old Alexander Rybakov equalized the score. The striker hit the far upper corner of the Condors’ goal.
In the third period, Rostov scored another goal. Egor Corbit brought the Don team ahead (1:2). The “red-white” fans, accustomed to losses, began to believe in the long-awaited victory. Almost until the very end of the game, the home team could not get closer to the Condors’ goal.
However, a couple of minutes before the siren the situation changed. The Chelmet coach called a timeout and changed the goalkeeper. After that, Artem Shvarev scored a goal for the Rostovites, equalizing the score.
By the end of the meeting the scoreboard was 2:2. To determine the winner, the teams were given extra time. The Condors’ striker decided the outcome of the match. Danil Klimov scored the puck against the Chelyabinsk athletes – 2:3.
Despite the victory, the “red-whites” remain at the bottom of the VHL (All-Russian Hockey League) list. Rostov takes 29th place out of 29.
