Hamas assessed Putin’s position on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

The ruling Palestinian movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip said it highly appreciates the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the issue of worsening the conflict between Palestine and Israel.

Earlier, Putin said that the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 was unprecedented not only in scale, but also in cruelty. He also noted that Israel’s use of heavy equipment during Operation Iron Swords against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip is fraught with serious consequences. According to him, both sides need to think about the civilian population, despite the tightening of actions on both sides. Putin said that Moscow is ready to mediate in resolving the conflict.

Hamas said in a statement that it “highly appreciates” Putin’s position on the issue of “continuing Zionist (Israeli) aggression against the Palestinian people,” as well as cutting off supplies and attacks on civilians in Gaza. The movement also noted that it only welcomes Moscow’s efforts aimed at “stopping Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.”

Earlier it was reported that Israel had launched a ground operation in Gaza. Israel also announced a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip: the supply of water, food, electricity, medicine, and fuel was suspended. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his country’s current actions in the Gaza Strip are only the beginning of an overall campaign. He announced “unprecedented strikes” against enemies. He said it will take time to “destroy” Hamas and defeat it, but Israel will “finish this war stronger than ever.”
