The Palestinian group Hamas released two American women from captivity – a mother and daughter. This is stated in a statement by the representative of the Al-Qassam Brigade (the military wing of the movement), Abu Obeida, published on the Hamas Telegram channel.
“In response to Qatari efforts, we have released two captive American women (a mother and daughter),” the statement said.
Abu Obeida noted that this was done “for humanitarian reasons,” as well as “to prove to the American people and the whole world” that the statements of US President Joe Biden and his administration are “false and unfounded.”
On October 7, the Palestinian group Hamas attacked Israel. In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched Operation Iron Swords. The Israeli government announced that the country had entered a state of war. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised that the country’s response to the Hamas attack will change the Middle East.
According to the latest data, over 5,500 people have died as a result of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, over 4,200 of them Palestinians.
