Guardian: Zelensky and Biden’s first meeting in the US turned into a scandal

During the first meeting between US and Ukrainian Presidents Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelensky in the summer of 2021, the Ukrainian politician showed unprofessionalism and pressure that angered the American leader. On Wednesday, August 30, writes The Guardian.

The publication refers to the book of the American journalist Franklin Foer “The Last Politician”, which says that this meeting between Biden and Zelensky turned out to be scandalous – the President of the United States was angered by the exorbitant demands of the Ukrainian leader, as well as his dubious and strange statements on political issues.

In particular, Zelensky called the North Atlantic Alliance a relic of the past, the importance of which is increasingly weakening, and also said that France and Germany would soon leave NATO.

Fueling the fire, writes Foer, was the low personal opinion of Biden and Zelensky as a politician and vice versa.

Nevertheless, the United States actively supports Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, supplying Kyiv with weapons and military equipment, as well as providing financial assistance. This does not add to Biden’s popularity: The Daily Courier columnist Joe Gusardi noted that the American President Ukraine turned out to be more importantthan Hawaii, engulfed in natural fires, where his fellow citizens died and lost their homes.
