Greece terminates the contract with the Russian Federation for technical support and maintenance of the Tor-M1 and Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile systems, which are in service with the Greek army. This will be done despite the effectiveness of these systems. A “top secret” document was mistakenly published in parliament, pronews reports.
The decision of the authorities is called in the material purely political and it is indicated that the Greek government “throws” a billion euros into the trash.
The termination of the contract is referred to as “the end of the era of Russian weapons systems in the Greek armed forces.” The termination means the refusal to purchase spare parts and services for mobile short-range anti-aircraft missile systems “Tor-M1” and older “Osa-AKM”.
Meanwhile, the available spare parts, as noted, will last only a few months.
According to pronews, the Greek army and air force are armed with 21 Tor-M1 self-propelled missile systems and 38 Osa-AK/AKM self-propelled guided missile systems of the SHORADS class (short range).
