On the territory of Finland, a Russian, Yan Petrovsky, who is called the commander of the Rusich reconnaissance group, was detained. This is reported by the channel MTV3.
According to MTV3, the detainee could allegedly take part in the conflict in Donbass in 2014-2015 on the side of the DNR and LNR. In addition, Petrovsky allegedly has connections with the Wagner PMC, he is under EU and US sanctions.
At the moment, Ukraine has filed a request for the extradition of the suspect. A court session on this case is scheduled in the district court of the Finnish region Ita-Uusimaa.
The Embassy of the Russian Federation, in turn, confirmed the fact that a Russian was detained in Finland at the request of the Ukrainian authorities. They also clarified that a request was sent to the Finnish side to hold a meeting with a citizen of the Russian Federation, but the answer has not yet been received.
