Grand Theft Auto became the most popular childhood game among Russians

VK Play found out that Russians consider the Grand Theft Auto series to be the main game of their childhood — 25% of survey participants reported this. More than 1.2 thousand respondents over 18 years old in Russia took part in the study.
In second place in popularity is Call of Duty (16%), the third is shared by Mortal Kombat, Need for Speed and How to Annoy Your Neighbor (14% each). Fourth place belongs to The Sims (13%), the top five also includes Warcraft (12%). The Russians named Heroes of Might and Magic, Cossacks and Allods Online as other popular games. Overall, 20% of gamers still play old games and consider them timeless classics.
VK Play notes that 80% played games in childhood and adolescence, 30% spent almost all their free time playing them. Over half would like to play more, 63% saw their parents’ attitude towards video games neutral, and 13% positive. Most of the respondents (93%) said they would not forbid their children from playing games.
Game CDs were and still are popular with gamers: 39% had a collection of CDs, 16% still keep them, while a third gave the collection to friends and acquaintances, and 6% donated to charity. Also, in their youth, Russians liked to play together with other gamers, almost a third were going to play away. One fifth of the respondents went to computer clubs.
