Graduates of Russian universities last year began to get fewer jobs – the share of employed was approximately 73%. This statement was made by the Acting Director of the Department of State Policy in the Sphere of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Science Alexei Levchenko.
According to him, in 2022, 760 thousand people graduated from higher educational institutions (excluding those who continued their education at the next level or combined work and study). According to Levchenko, the decline in employed graduates is due to the fact that some of them continue to study further.
At the same time, most of the employed were recorded in the Siberian, Ural and Volga federal districts, the politician added. He explained this by the creation of career centers on the basis of universities, which solve problems regarding job search.
Levchenko also emphasized the importance of practical skills of targeted training for quick employment. According to him, an increase in the target quota has been noticed: in 2022, 109 thousand places were allocated for this under the bachelor’s, specialist’s and master’s programs, and this year the number reached 114 thousand.
