Activists of the Russian Public Initiative proposed establishing a new professional holiday – Government Procurement Specialist Day. According to the authors of the idea, the innovation will help unite all professionals in this field and increase the prestige of the industry at the state level.
As MK learned, national experts came up with the initiative to introduce Procurement Specialist Day into Russia’s professional calendar. The main mission of the holiday is to unite employees in the field of procurement into a single team, increase the significance of the work performed and motivate them to work effectively and meet professional standards.
Social activists point out that the system of public procurement and procurement activities in Russia has a long history, which began in the 17th century. Today, procurement is one of the main instruments for regulating the market, social and economic system of the country.
And thousands of Russian professionals are involved in the implementation of the mechanism. Every day, specialists and experts place state, municipal and corporate orders, conclude agreements and government contracts, and ensure fair competition in the Russian market. However, today the profession does not have its own professional holiday that unites all those involved in this field.
Activists are confident that the prestige of the procurement profession requires support at the state level. And one of the measures could be the introduction of a professional holiday – Procurement Specialist Day – on July 18. The day was chosen for a reason – it was on this day in 2011 that the President of Russia signed the federal law “On the procurement of goods, works, services by certain types of legal entities” No. 223-FZ. This law significantly expanded the scope of procurement activities.
The authors of the initiative believe that it is not enough to simply establish a date; it needs to be popularized among members of the profession. A holiday can serve as an occasion for summing up results, identifying the main paths for future development, congratulating colleagues, clients, rewarding the best professionals in their field, etc.
