American corporation Google added support for 1080p resolution for group calls to the Google Meet video conferencing service. Google Workspace users can now make calls in higher quality than before.
In April 2023, Google added high-definition support for Google Workspace subscribers during one-on-one sessions, allowing three or more people to participate in 1080p video calls. To launch the new feature, members who have Full HD webcams will need to turn it on and accept the invitation on the join screen. Once enabled, a 1080p icon will appear in the upper right corner of the video window. Google One users will not yet be able to take advantage of high-quality group calls – only individual sessions are available to them.
In April 2020, Google did Meet service was partially free, and in June 2022 it merged it with a similar video conferencing service Duo, after which the application began to be called Google Meet and received the functionality of both services.
