Google introduced the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones – Kommersant

Google at the Made by Google event presented a new generation of branded smartphones – the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models.

Both devices received new-generation screens: a 6.2-inch Actua Display for the Pixel 8 and a 6.7-inch Super Actua Display for the Pixel 8 Pro with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The devices have switched to the new proprietary Google Tensor G3 chip, which works with a separate Titan M2 security chip and 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128, 256, 512 GB or 1 TB of internal memory. The new processor has made it possible to expand the capabilities of artificial intelligence to improve the quality of photographs and videos, as well as new options for their processing.

Pixel 8 received a new main camera with 50 MP, an ultra-wide-angle lens with 12 MP and autofocus, and the Pixel 8 Pro has a main camera with 50 MP, an ultra-wide-angle lens with 48 MP and autofocus, as well as a telephoto lens with 48 MP. Both models have a 10.5 megapixel front camera with autofocus. Improved algorithms based on artificial intelligence have improved the quality of photo and video shooting and speeded up their processing. The Pixel 8 Pro camera has received advanced settings, and the Pro version is additionally equipped with a separate sensor that allows you to measure the temperature of surrounding objects.

For Pixel 8, the Best Take function has been announced, which “collects” the highest quality image from a series of frames, new photo editing capabilities Magic Editor, and the Audio Magic Eraser function has also appeared, which removes extraneous noise in the video. Later, the Pixel 8 Pro will get a Video Boost option, which will allow you to adjust color, lighting, stabilization and grain in videos, and use Night Sight Video mode on the Pixel to improve low-light shooting.

Artificial intelligence has improved the quality of speech recognition, added a summary function for web pages, and improved the quality of spam call recognition. The new call answering screen lets you select contextual replies to quickly answer simple calls without having to pick up the phone.

Along with the smartphones, the new Google Pixel Watch 2 and Google Pixel Buds Pro wireless headphones were presented, the main changes of which involve the addition of new functions due to the expanded capabilities of artificial intelligence and the appearance of new colors in the palette. In particular, the watch has increased battery life to 24 hours and improved monitoring of the user’s health and physical activity, while the headphones have improved sound quality and expanded active noise reduction capabilities.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro became the first smartphones to receive a seven-year update program for the Android operating system. The devices will cost from $699 for the Google Pixel 8 and from $999 for the Google Pixel 8 Pro—smartphone sales will begin in October.
