Google has agreed with Reddit, which owns the popular forum of the same name, to use its content in training its AI models. This is reported by Reuters with reference to own sources. According to them, in accordance with the agreement, Reddit will receive about $60 million a year from Google. Reddit and Google declined to comment on this information.
As Reuters notes, for Reddit this could be an additional source of income in the face of increasingly fierce competition in the online advertising market. Last year, the company said it would start charging companies to access its APIs (application programming interfaces). In January became known, that Reddit is going to hold an IPO this year and sell 10% of its shares during the placement. According to the results of the last round of financing at the end of 2021, the company was valued at $10 billion.
