Google called the 2GIS application malicious – Kommersant

The Google Play digital store has begun issuing warnings to users that the 2GIS mapping application may contain malware. The press service of the service assured that this information is not true, reports TASS.

2GIS cannot be downloaded on Google Play from May 2023. According to the digital store’s security system, the 2GIS application is trying to gain access to personal data, including call logs, SMS messages, as well as audio logs and photos.

2GIS representatives stated that the application is reliable, safe and does not contain malware. According to 2GIS, Google Play warnings are related to the rules of Google itself and apply to all applications that are not available in the digital store. To operate the 2GIS application, you need access to a microphone in order to voice search queries. And access to SMS is required to enter an automatic code when registering in the application.
