The destruction of a Chinese balloon by an American drone was an impractical solution. This is written by the Chinese edition of Global Times, citing experts.
Lu Xiang, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that US civilian and military aircraft fly near China more often than Chinese aircraft fly near the US.
“If the US does not distinguish between civil and military aircraft, then a very bad precedent has been set in China-US relations,” he said.
He added that the US needed to think carefully about the consequences of the decision to shoot down the balloon.
Another expert, who wished to remain anonymous, said that using a fighter jet against a balloon is technically like shooting a mosquito with a cannon. It was an impractical and too costly solution.
