The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, instructed the heads of non-border regions to strengthen security measures. According to him, if this work is not done now, the authorities will face problems later. We are talking, in particular, about the Gubkinsky and Starooskolsky urban districts.

“Much of what we are doing now is not prescribed by law: neither film, nor protective structures. We proceed only from our experience. Of course, there should not be redundancy either. There is no need to install protective structures in Stary Oskol to the same extent as in Belgorod,” Mr. Gladkov said in the report, which cites press service regional government.

Vyacheslav Gladkov called for avoiding unnecessary spending of funds, but at the same time ordered, following the example of Belgorod, to bring the basements into proper condition for civil defense. “We see that residents of Stary Oskol are complaining about insufficient security measures. We must strengthen this work,” the governor wrote.

According to Vyacheslav Gladkov, the Stary Oskol urban district is provided with 63 warning devices, covering 108 thousand people (40% of the district’s population). It is planned to install another 37 devices by April 20. 20 electric sirens have been installed in the Gubkinsky urban district, and by the end of April the warning systems will cover the entire population. There are also 382 protective structures installed in the district with a capacity of 117 thousand people.
