A new wave of coronavirus infection in China is caused by already existing strains of COVID-19 that have spread to many countries around the world. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing GISAID (Global Virus Genome Database).

“At this point, there is no evidence that there is any new meaningful option,” said GISAID CEO Peter Bogner.

It is also reported that the Chinese authorities transferred to the database 25 genetic samples that were collected in November in Beijing, Guangzhou and Inner Mongolia. After scientists conducted research, it turned out that there are small changes, but they occur naturally during the transmission of the virus from person to person.

On Sunday, December 25, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that more than 1 million sick coronavirus. It should be noted that the population of the region is 64.5 million people.
