In the south of Great Britain, archaeologists have discovered a well-preserved skull of a prehistoric sea monster – a pliosaur.
According to CNN, experts estimate the age of the fossil to be 150 million years, which is almost 3 million years younger than any other pliosaur find. The size of the predator reached 15 meters in length, and the length of the found skull is two meters. The fossilized specimen weighs more than 500 kg. The pliosaur’s bite was twice as powerful as that of a saltwater crocodile, which today has the most powerful jaws in the world, said Emily Rayfield, professor of paleobiology at the University of Bristol.
