Germany's largest electricity producer initiates arbitration proceedings with Gazprom

[ad_1]

How informs Kommersant, Germany’s largest electricity producer, RWE AG, has filed a lawsuit with the arbitration court against Russia’s Gazprom.

It is specified that RWE AG intends to seek compensation for losses for the underdelivered gas from Russia.

Earlier, Uniper made similar claims against Gazprom, demanding compensation of €11.6 billion. Due to the reduction in supplies from the Russian Federation, German importers were forced to buy expensive gas on the market.

RWE is not a major buyer of Gazprom, we are talking about compensation for relatively small volumes purchased on the electronic trading platform of Gazprom Export.
