Germany’s gas storage facilities are over 80% full

Germany has ensured its energy security by filling gas storage facilities up to 80.14%, follows from the report of the Federal Grid Agency (German regulator), transmits TASS.

“Gas supplies to Germany are currently stable. The energy security of Germany is currently guaranteed,” the message says.

At the same time, the regulator notes that the situation may worsen in the future, and consumers should prepare for continued growth in gas prices, the report says.

Last week the head of the regulator Klaus Müller pointed outthat it will be difficult to fill storage facilities by 85% by October. “At best, the plan can be completed by three-quarters,” he said at the time. According to him, even if UGS facilities are filled to 95% by November, which is an “elusive” step, this amount of gas will only be enough for 2.5 months to cover all the needs of the country in the event of a complete halt in supplies from Russia. This means that Berlin must not relax, it is necessary to continue to fill gas storage facilities, Müller said.

At the end of July “Gazprom”, on the supply of which Germany is highly dependent, reduced the flow of gas through the Nord Stream due to the repair of turbines, now no more than 33 million cubic meters pass through the pipeline. m of gas per day instead of the planned 167 million cubic meters. Müller has already called for a 20% reduction in gas consumption in order to save energy and ensure enough gas for the winter. To this end, in many cities in Germany, the illumination of public buildings and fountains, hot water in the showers of gyms and swimming pools were turned off.

In particular, the Berlin authorities, in order to save electricity, from the end of July refused to illuminate 100 public buildings and facilities after midnight, including the Brandenburg Gate and the Red Town Hall (the building of the Berlin Senate).
