Germany allowed the return of military service

The return of conscription service to Germany was allowed by the country’s Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius. According to him, he sees “good arguments” in favor of the return of military service, which was canceled in 2011.
It is clarified that the conscript may be given the choice of where to serve: in the Bundeswehr, rescue service or medical organization.
“The return of the draft will once again make sure that these services are necessary for society,” the head of the German Defense Ministry explained.
A number of politicians from the Free Democratic Party coalition have already criticized the idea. In particular, German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann spoke out against it.
