German abstract painting sold for more than $20 million

Painting by German abstract artist Gerhard Richter “192 Colors” sold for more than $20 million, according to British media.
The work, written in 1966, went under the hammer at the auction house Sotheby’s. It formed the basis of the famous stained-glass window in the Cologne Cathedral, created by Richter.
As reported, the final price at the end of the auction amounted to 18.287 million pounds (more than $20.4 million).
Gerhard Richter is a contemporary German artist, recognized as one of the most influential living artists. Winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale. His works are among the most expensive in the world.
