Colonel-General Alexander Romanchuk, commander of the grouping in the Zaporozhye direction, said that yesterday evening, June 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin contacted the commander of the military district, who reported to him about the situation in the Zaporozhye direction. The next day, on the morning of June 8, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov informed Putin about the battle on the night of June 8.

“Last night, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief contacted the commander of the military district, who reported to him in detail the situation in our direction. This morning, the Chief of the General Staff reported to the President on the results of the night battle,” said Mr. Romanchuk, the video was published in Telegram channel Ministry of Defense of Russia.

In a video published by the department, Oleksandr Romanchuk also spoke about the course of the fighting. According to him, a Ukrainian mechanized brigade of four battalions tried to attack Russian positions near Orekhov. Mr. Romanchuk claims that Russian intelligence and special forces revealed the intentions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, after which they were attacked by artillery and aircraft, and tanks that had broken through ran into minefields.

Today, June 8, Sergei Shoigu also informedthat 1.5 thousand Ukrainian military and 150 armored vehicles tried to break through the defense of Russian troops in the Zaporozhye region. According to him, the Ukrainian forces were pushed back thanks to a “preemptive strike by artillery” and aviation.
