General Staff: 52,000 conscripts received subpoenas

The spring conscription campaign is proceeding as planned and will end on July 15, said Colonel Andrei Biryukov, head of the GOMU department of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. According to him, already 21,000 Russians have been recognized as fit for military service, and another 29,000 have been granted deferrals.
“To date, 52 thousand citizens have been notified and more than 50 thousand have already arrived at the military commissariats,” Mr. Biryukov told reporters (quoted by TASS).
He added that the first dispatch of conscripts will begin on April 20. “A third of the conscripts will be sent to training formations and military units, where they will master modern military equipment and receive a military registration specialty within three months,” said a representative of the General Staff.
Spring recruitment began April 1st. On April 11, the State Duma approved the law on a unified register of persons liable for military service, which legalizes electronic summonses. It is assumed that from the date of receipt of the summons (both in electronic and paper form), a ban on leaving Russia is introduced. April 14 Vladimir Putin signed law.
