Gastroenterologist Dilyara Lebedeva in her Telegram channel called for limiting the consumption of semolina porridge.
She noted that this porridge was popular earlier when a large selection of baby food was not available. But in fact, it is a by-product that remains after the production of wheat flour. Semolina contains gluten in large quantities and consists of 85% fast carbohydrates, while having almost no vitamins, minerals and fiber.
Therefore, she noted, in terms of its characteristics, semolina is quite comparable to white bread or sugar, which are not very useful, but increase the level of glucose in the blood.
Lebedeva also recommended not to overuse cereals with milk, as they also increase blood sugar levels. According to her, it is better to eat low-carb foods with enough protein and fat in the morning.
