G7 demanded that Russia pay damages to Ukraine in exchange for unfreezing assets
The assets of the Russian Federation in the jurisdictions of the G7 countries will remain frozen until Moscow compensates for the damage to Ukraine. This condition is called in the declaration of the G7 member states.
“We recognize the need to create an international mechanism for reparations (…) and express our readiness to explore options for developing appropriate instruments,” the text of the document says.
In April, the foreign ministers of the G7 countries made a joint statement in which they informed that the states of the informal international club would continue to block Russia’s assets until the Ukrainian conflict was resolved.
