G7 countries agree to send $39 billion to Ukraine by the end of the year

The G7 member countries have increased their commitment to support Ukraine to $39 billion this year, the states are committed to meeting the country’s needs for short-term financing, the G7 finance ministers and central bank governors said in a statement following a meeting held in Bangalore, India.
“For 2023, based on the needs of the government of Ukraine, we have increased our commitment to budgetary and economic support to $39 billion. These significant commitments and their rapid implementation give Ukraine confidence and allow the authorities to guarantee the functioning of the government, continue to provide basic services and stabilize the economy,” – says in a statement (quote from RIA Novosti).
As Reuters previously wrote, the leaders of the G7 countries discuss in India, measures against Russia with the aim of ending hostilities in Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of Finance of Japan, which chairs the meeting of ministers and governors of the Central Bank.
The G7 countries have been imposing sanctions on Russia since the start of the special operation in Ukraine in February 2022. In particular, the restrictions affected energy carriers of Russian origin – oil, oil products and gas – in the form of a price ceiling, the military-industrial complex, banking, financial sectors, etc. The G7 includes the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the US.
