G7 and EU want to impose restrictions on the trade in Russian diamonds

The G7 countries and the EU are discussing ways to trace Russian diamonds to make it easier to impose restrictions on their sale. Bloomberg writes about this, citing its knowledgeable sources in the industry.
Western media periodically write about the ban or restrictions on the trade in diamonds with the Russian Federation. Moreover, as a rule, the number of publications increases before agreeing on new packages of sanctions. But so far, despite the adoption of nine packages of restrictions, Russian diamonds have not been included in the economic sanctions of the European Union.
The G7 and the EU are discussing ways to track Russian diamonds crossing borders, the agency said. However, tracking diamonds within the global market is quite difficult and one should hardly count on a prompt solution to the task.
Nevertheless, it is argued that the G7 countries may issue a statement on this issue as early as next week.
