UK: the version of the involvement of the Ukrainian special services in the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge is confirmed

The secret services of Ukraine were behind the organization of the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge on October 8 last year, Alexander Bastrykin, chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, said in an interview with TASS.

“In the course of the investigation, the version was confirmed that the Ukrainian special services were involved in the organization of the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge,” said He.

The head of the department recalled that during the investigation installed 12 people involved in the crime – among them are citizens of Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia and Russia. According to Bastrykin, eight of them are in custody. Now, in the criminal case, expert examinations are ongoing on material evidence found at the site of the bridge blowing up, he added. “All the information received is summarized and systematized in order to establish a complete picture of what happened and other persons involved in this crime,” said the chairman of the Investigative Committee.

On October 8, 2022, a truck was blown up on the automobile part of the Crimean bridge from the side of the Taman Peninsula. Also, seven fuel tanks of a train heading towards the Crimean peninsula caught fire. As a result, the motor spans of the bridge partially collapsed, killing four people. The government instructed to restore the facility no later than July 1, 2023.

Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the special services of Ukraine of the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, and the TFR opened a criminal case under Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Terrorism”). October 9 Bastrykin voiced the proposed route of the truck. According to him, the truck was moving through Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, North Ossetia and the Krasnodar Territory. Later, the authorities of Bulgaria and Georgia stated that the truck blown up on the Crimean bridge had never been on the territory of the countries.

On October 12, the FSB of Russia named the organizer of the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, and also explained how the explosives got into Russia. According to the agency, the organizer is the head of military intelligence of Ukraine Kirill Budanov. The FSB found out that the explosive device was disguised in rolls of film. First, he was taken from Odessa to the Bulgarian city of Ruse, and later sent to Russia through Georgia and Armenia.
