Fyodor Lavrov: This film is a journey beyond the usual self

On October 5, the film A Tale for Adults will be released in wide release – the directorial debut of actor Fyodor Lavrov and writer, Andrei Bely Prize winner for the novel Wait for the Summer and See What Happens by Roman Mikhailov.
The tape has already been awarded the main prize at the Spirit of Fire festival.
“This picture is not just our work,” director and screenwriter Roman Mikhailov addresses future viewers, “but also our joy, our intoxication. For me, this is a film-exploration, a film – a journey beyond the boundaries of the familiar self and its familiar territory. Research, which is difficult to linear analysis, steps on its own heels on purpose and, it would seem, continues its course without purpose or reason. Sometimes my life is like this, and not only mine … We worked on the film for more than two years. This is exactly a fairy tale, criminal scenery is just scenery, it is bright and kind, kinder and Teremka, and even more so Kolobok. The story of the three brothers sent by their father who knows where is hardwired into our culture, and here it emerges as the basis of a fierce adventure with many symbols, layers, with the interweaving of the worlds of the living and the dead. A Tale for the Old Ones can evolve from a movie into a board game or role-playing game, and could easily be written into fanfiction. Play with these characters however you want, guide them like toy soldiers, give them superpowers and alternate wills. Telling fairy tales is a worthy human occupation. This is what we did, starting work on the tape. And they ended up making an independent movie – with absurd humor, hidden symbols, and, immodestly, excellent acting – that is released all over the country. Support us with your attention, warm attitude, and we will continue to tell you magical stories. It seems to me that our culture has long been waiting for such a fairy tale “about bandits”, built on a multi-layered narrative, stitched with absurdity. There she is! Let’s watch it with us.
