FSSP denies arrest of RBC editor-in-chief’s property due to unpaid fine

The Federal Bailiffs Service (FSSP) told RIA Novosti that the information about the arrest of the property of the editor-in-chief of RBC Petr Kanaev is not true. At the same time, the FSSP confirmed that four enforcement proceedings were initiated against Mr. Kanaev to recover fines.
According to the FSSP RIA Novosti, enforcement proceedings against Pyotr Kanaev were initiated because he “did not execute the administrative penalty within the time period established by law,” namely, he did not pay the fines. “The bailiff-executor took measures in accordance with the law “On Enforcement Proceedings”,” the FSSP added. What specific measures were taken, representatives of the service did not specify. In accordance with Russian law, only the debtor, the recoverer and their representatives can receive this data.
On receiving a letter of seizure of property earlier today, March 9, informed Mr. Kanaev himself. The reason, according to him, was the late payment of a fine of 4 thousand rubles imposed on the editorial office. and a penalty of 1 thousand rubles. The fine was imposed due to the fact that the status of the SOVA center, which the Ministry of Justice entered into the register of foreign agents, was not indicated in the RBC material. According to RBC, an apartment of 33 square meters was arrested. m and a cottage in the Stupinsky district with an area of 117 sq. m on eight acres. Petr Kanaev called such a measure disproportionate to the violation.
