FSB asks to arrest Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Vereshchuk in absentia

Investigators of the Federal Security Service asked the Lefortovo Court of Moscow to arrest in absentia Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk and First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova, write “RIA Novosti” with reference to the press service of the court. They are accused of violating the territorial integrity of Russia.

“The court received petitions from the investigation to elect a measure of restraint in the form of detention in absentia against Dzhaparova Emine Aiyarovna and Vereshchuk Irina Andreevna,” the source said. In addition, Vereshchuk and Dzhaparova have been put on the international wanted list.

According to RIA Novosti, two Ukrainian politicians are charged with “alienation of part of the territory of the Russian Federation or other actions (with the exception of delimitation, demarcation, redemarcation of the state border of the Russian Federation with neighboring states) aimed at violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation.” Article 280.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for imprisonment for a term of six to ten years.
