From barefoot schoolchildren to modern geniuses: a school in the village of Slavyanskoye opened its doors for 200 students after repairs

On behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, in 2022-2026, a program will be implemented for the overhaul of buildings of educational institutions. “Slavyanskaya OOSH” in the village of Slavyanskoye, Kaliningrad Region, was one of the first to be included in the overhaul program.

The building where the school is now located was built before the war. In the restoration, repair, as well as supply, then the students played a huge role, who, together with the teachers, independently settled in the building provided to them for use. When teachers and pupils had just moved to a new school, there was nothing: no desks, no chairs. Even the pioneer squad did not have attributes. The school management was looking for ways out. The director taught them to make repairs, so they earned money and bought all the equipment for them: for the pioneer squad – a horn, a drum, a banner; and for the teacher’s room – a sofa, curtains. Many students were from poor families and came to school literally barefoot in the fall. Seeing such a picture, the teachers decided to grow potatoes and buy shoes for the needy with this money.

In the 21st century, such sacrifices are not required. This year, Slavyanskaya OOSh was included in the overhaul program, which involves a complete modernization of the school education system. The institution received not only cosmetic repairs, but also a completely updated system of internal communications. Additionally, some of the classrooms are equipped with modern spaces and means of education and upbringing. Moreover, some classrooms are already equipped with new furniture, and now the necessary equipment has appeared.

Also, within the framework of the national project “Education”, this year a center of natural sciences “Point of Growth” was opened at the school. It is located on the second floor of the main building of the educational institution. Teaching laboratories in physics and chemistry appeared here – they were united by a common laboratory. The space was equipped with expensive equipment: digital laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology and ecology, digital microscopes.

Last academic year, 194 students studied at the school, and since the new academic year, there have been more than 200 students. Since September 1, the guys from Slavyanskaya OOSh crossed the threshold of a completely different school, sat down at new desks and together started a new page in the history of their native school. It is worth noting that children come to this school from all over the region.

Now students are children living in the villages of Slavyanskoye, Turgenevo, Mayskoye, Pridorozhnoye, Zhuravlevka, Lipovka, Nikitovka, Kamenka, Ushakovka, Iyulskoye.

Children will be able to engage in creative and extracurricular activities in the small building of the school. Instead of empty unequipped premises, a theater and culinary studios, a library space and a recreation room were equipped there.

“Repair was carried out in two buildings of the school. Buildings of pre-war construction, so it is unnecessary to talk about the importance of this event. After determining the executor, from the fourth academic quarter, we organized the education of children in the building of the central district school. The attitude of parents, children and teachers was pleasantly pleased.

Everyone was involved in this process: the children offered their own variations of the school space, parents and teachers helped and supported, public control over the progress of repair work was organized on an ongoing basis on Saturdays. In fact, this program is a unique opportunity for ordinary village schools to reach the level of modern educational organizations. And we are proof of that. This is the rebirth of the school. In addition to the external appearance, aesthetic and comfortable classrooms, equipped with educational equipment and modern furniture, the content of training is also being revised. We place a special emphasis on increasing additional education and supporting children’s initiatives. The Center for Children’s Initiatives is being formed, which will be a place of attraction for children, determining the main directions for spending leisure time for students, shaping their interests outside of school hours. It’s nice to see the burning eyes of children, and this is the most important thing! – comments the director of the school Alena Sushkova.

For children, this September 1 became a memorable date: the long-awaited opening of the renovated school took place! Also on this day, the “Point of Growth” was opened as part of the “Modern School” project. The Minister of Education of the Kaliningrad Region, Svetlana Truseneva, congratulated the parents and children on such a significant event and together with them appreciated the new modern classrooms, educational laboratories, the educational center for the natural sciences “Point of Growth” and additional education spaces. The head of the department held their first lesson this year for the 9th grade children, spoke about the prospects for the development of the region, highlighted the most sought-after professions and areas of secondary and higher education.
