The Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for Moscow reported, citing forecasts from Roshydromet weather forecasters, that from 21:00 on February 12 to 6:00 on February 13, ice will remain in the capital, in some areas there will be freezing rain, accumulation of wet snow, and fog. In some places, severe icy conditions are expected during this period, noted press service capital headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. An almost similar message was distributed by the department’s Moscow region, but it notes that freezing rain in the region may last until 9:00 on February 13.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations recommended that motorists reduce speed and increase the distance from cars in front, avoid sudden maneuvers, and park cars away from trees. Citizens are also advised to avoid billboards and rickety structures, not take cover under trees and not leave children unattended.

As of today, February 12, due to heavy snowfall in the Rostov region there is no electricity remained 145 thousand people. Freezing rain and heavy ice were recorded in southern central Russia today. The authorities of Voronezh, Tambov, Astrakhan, Volgograd and Penza regions reported on the fight against the consequences of bad weather.
