Free of impurities – Style

“Kommersant Style” is about perfume compositions that are doomed to success with the opposite sex.

Is it generally correct to talk about fragrances as aphrodisiacs? Is it true that there are some secret smells that will make others pleasantly nervous? It is now a generally accepted postulate that perfumes and our relationship with them are nothing more than our emotional response to certain memories: the aroma of baking – the comfort of childhood, notes of tobacco – something that evokes the image of a father or grandfather, roses – a happy time at the dacha. Indeed, the part of our brain that processes smells is located next to the part where memories are stored, so even the slightest whiff of a scent can trigger exciting memories of a chance encounter or paint a sweet picture from the past.

Francis Kurkdjian, whose Baccarat Rouge 540 has long been ranked number one in the sexiest fragrance category, believes that the power of perfumes is that they work without intermediaries. “Smells directly affect our emotions, hidden memories or secret traumas, bypassing the filters of conscious thought,” he says, and emphasizes that “fragrance is a primal, instinctive feeling. Simply put: when we smell something we like, we want it more.”

That’s why, once you find a scent that makes you feel confident and sexy, it will be that aphrodisiac. There is no universal recipe, no fragrance can please everyone, but there are certain notes that are inextricably linked with the art of seduction: musk, vanilla, warm woody accords, incense. But sexuality is still something very personal, a matter of self-confidence, a state of mind. The right scent can emphasize this, but cannot replace it.
