Swindlers got caught by confusing bank branch
The verdict on two swindlers who tried to rob a Moldovan spy who went to serve her sentence was passed by the Ostankino district court of the capital. Both attackers, Alexander Pomelov from St. Petersburg and Nikolai Mikolenko, a native of Ukraine, had previous convictions, so they received sentences based on a combination of crimes.
As MK was told in the press service of the court, the verdict was passed for fraud on an especially large scale. Earlier, a 31-year-old native of St. Petersburg Kolpin was convicted in his hometown for violating drug trafficking rules, and a 42-year-old guest from the Transcarpathian region was far from the first time he scammed on a grand scale. Therefore, Pomelov received a total of four years in prison, and Mikolenko – six.
Recall that the criminals tried, using a fake power of attorney, to withdraw money from the account of the former top manager of Inter RAO, Karina Tsurkan. She herself at that time was sentenced to 15 years for espionage in favor of Moldova and was sent to a colony in Altai. She was charged with transferring to the Moldovan special service information about the supply of electricity from Russia to Ukraine. At the time of the arrest, the business lady had more than a billion rubles on her account. The funds were blocked, but then, by a court decision, 656 million were turned into state revenue. True, they did not have time to unblock them at the time of the attempt to commit a crime: the writ of execution had only just arrived at the bailiffs. This was the first blunder of the intruders. The second was that Pomelov, namely he was supposed to deliver the power of attorney, came with her to the bank branch on Ostozhenka, while Turcan was served in the department for VIP clients. Thanks to the well-coordinated work of the FSB and the police, the criminals were detained and taken into custody in October 2021.
