Fraudsters in Russia came up with a scheme with “Lyudmila from the call center”

From mid-June 2023, scammers began to use a new scheme, the essence of which is that when answering a call from an unknown number, the user hears a voice promising to call back against the background of “call center sounds”, after which the connection is interrupted. It is assumed that the voice itself was recorded. Usually a woman introduces herself as “Lyudmila from the call center”, reports “Newspaper.ru“.
Experts suggest that the call allows you to check the “active base of numbers” by writing down those who answer the call. When calling “manually” it would be more difficult. It can also be beneficial for scammers if the person who received the call calls back himself – firstly, in this case, he will pay for the outgoing call, and secondly, more gullible users who are easier to deceive will call back.
Answering a call does not threaten the funds of the owner of the phone, but it is not recommended to call back scammers or engage in dialogue with them
